Southwest Little League is an all volunteer organization.
Parents – Southwest Little League is working to develop new leadership. We encourage you to step into the roles vacated by volunteers who’s children who have outgrown little league. The league is an all volunteer organization that exists for the benefit of youth in the White Center, Highpoint, Top Hat, Shorewood, Arbor Heights, Riverview, and Seahurst neighborhoods.
These are the roles:
President: You get the month of August off. Just enough time to go through storage to reorganize and prep for the coming year. You need to know (or learn quickly) how to perform all of the other board positions so you can fill in when needed.
Vice President: Supports the president and attends all District meetings with the President. The VP is the only other board member allowed to vote at District meetings. Fills in for President in his or her absence.
Secretary: This job is generally a Oct to June job. It usually takes two hours per meeting, one hour at the meeting taking notes and one hour to type them up and email them out to the board members.
Treasurer: An all year job. Usually a few hours a week during peak times (sign ups and taxes) a few hours a month all other.
Information Officer: Peak hours during January, Feb, March getting the info out to the parents regarding sign ups. Requires A few hours a month updating online info, schedules, standings.
Safety Officer: Peak hours in February and March. Includes writing the safety plan, making copies for coaches, putting together first aid kits. During the season sending reminders to coaches replentishing kits. Also arranges first aid class attendance.
Coach Coordinator: Rounds up coaches for each team. Sends out information updates and reminders to the coaches.
Player Agent: collects paperwork for each player and puts to gether the affidavits for all stars. peak hours in March and June.
Soft Equipment Manager: Distributes and collects uniforms for each team. Orders uniforms and hats. Works with the sponsor coordinator. Peak hours in March, April and June.
Hard Equipment Manager: Distributes, collects and replaces bats, balls and safety equipment to each team. Peak hours in April and June.
Field Scheduler: Year schedules submitted to county and city in Dec. Jan/Feb negociates changes with them. Creates spreadsheet assigning fields to teams, including practices and games. Interleaguing always possible. Organization, spreadsheet a must. This job runs Dec through June. works with umpire coordinator.
Advertising/publicitly officer: orders and distributes flyers and yard signs. January peak hours.
Fundraiser: Organizes yearly fundraising. Organization a must. Peak hours April.
Sponsor Coordinator: Peak hours january. Finds sponsor for each team. Emails team schedule and invites each sponsor to various events. Delivers plaques, team balls etc. Charisma a must.
Umpire Coordinator: Peak months March, April Enlists umpires. Gets them to the required clinic. Provides equipment, uniforms to the umpires. For those umpires under 16, sometimes you need to give them a ride.
Events coordinator: Arranges jamboree, picnic, parade and any other event we come up with. Peak hours March, June, and July.
