Registration FAQ: What documentation do I need?

Most of the information required to get your child started with Southwest Little League will be attained through questions asked during either online or in-person registration. However, the registration process also requires leagues to confirm proof of age and eligibility.

Whether you plan to register online or in person, take a moment to assure you have the needed documentation to make the registration process as easy and smooth as possible.

Proof of Residency Eligibility

If a player's parent/s or legal guardian/s reside within Southwest Little League's boundaries, s/he is eligible to participate in the league. Definitions and further details of residency, as it pertains to Little League, can be read in Little League's documentation.

Residence shall be established and supported by documents containing the parent(s) or guardian(s) name, street address, city, state, and zip code information. The supporting documentation MUST be dated or be in force between February 1, 2018 and February 1, 2019. In order to register, whether online or in-person, you will need to present one such document from each of the following three categories:

Group One

  • Driver License
  • School Records
  • Vehicle Records (registration, lease, etc.)
  • Employment Records
  • Insurance Documents

Group Two

  • Welfare/child care records
  • Federal records (Federal tax filings, Social Security documents, etc.)
  • State records
  • Local (municipal) records
  • Support payment records
  • Homeowner or tenant records
  • Military records

Group Three

  • Voter registration
  • Utility bill (gas, electric, water/sewer, phone, mobile phone, heating, waste disposal, etc.)
  • Financial records (loan, credit, investments, etc.)
  • Medical records
  • Internet, cable, or satellite records

Proof of School Attendance Eligibility

If a player does not reside within Southwest Little League boundaries, s/he may still be eligible to play in the league, if the child's school is located within the boundaries.

In order to prove eligibility through this means, proof must be provided through:

  1. Official/certified school enrollment record dated prior to October 1, 2018, OR
  2. A Little League-issued school attendance form completed by the school's principal, assistant principal, or an administrator
authorized to sign on behalf of the school.

Further details on school-attendance requirements can be read at the Little League website.

Proof of Age Eligibility

Proof of birth date must be established for each registering player. For most US-born players, this will be the child's original Certificate of Live Birth.

NOT ACCEPTABLE AS SOLE PROOF OF BIRTH DATE: certificates from non-governing organizations, photocopies, or passports.

For more information on acceptable forms of birth documentation for Little League purposes, read Little League's requirements.
