It is with a very heavy heart that we post this notice to inform all SWLL families and players that our league has made the tough decision to cancel our 2020 Little League Season. While both the board and many of our families were holding out hope that we would be able to play any sort of baseball this year, the challenges of our current situation have become too great to make that happen. The slow speed at which the Washington State reopening phasing plan is occurring in King County combined with the challenges we face to truly keep all our players and volunteers safe while playing baseball, has led to our decision to cancel the season.
That said, we are still proud of what we were able to accomplish this year, little though it may feel. We held a free player's clinic in January to introduce kids to the game of baseball - a big feat for our small league. And believe it or not, our participation numbers did grow this year - we were able to field a Juniors team (ages 13 & 14) for the first time in several years! While many players did not get the chance to participate in even one practice, we are hopeful that many will return next year to experience all that Little League baseball has to offer our youth. (Hint - our online registration typically starts in January each year.)
Thank you all for your patience during this unprecedented time. Stay safe and hopefully we'll see you on the ball field next year!
